Caloundra AFC is situated at the southern end of the beautiful sunshine coast, approximately 80km north of Brisbane. The area is renowned for its beautiful and varied beaches including excellent surfing, fishing, relaxing or flat water sports. Caloundra township is dominated by the beaches and the beautiful headlands and esplanade provide a glorious sunset or sunrise. Bulcock Beach and The Esplanade provide great nightlife entertainment with bars and cool cafes aplenty.
Caloundra AFC was established in 1973, won premierships in the late 80's and early 90's and in recent years has played finals from 2014 to 2017 without ultimate success. The club believes that it is a community football club firstly and has taken an attitude that the football club will embrace the local community and make it a welcoming place for all who wish to be part of it, irrespective of their football history. With a number of young families around the club in recent years a creche was established in 2017 to take the strain off partners on match days!
Volunteers, like most community football clubs, make up the backbone, heart beat and soul of Caloundra AFC with our club values being Honesty, Respect, Commitment, Sportsmanship and Focus.
In the past 12 months there has been an explosion in building on the sunshine coast but predominantly around the Caloundra region. The largest health precinct in the southern hemisphere was created with the establishment of the sunshine coast university hospital, the sunshine coast university itself has over 10000 students, a
housing development (Aura) for 20000 homes (50000 people) is currently being created as well as various other housing developments. The football club has many tradesmen and the demand for people in this field of work is currently very high. With the numerous contacts a football club provides, work will be sourced for players if they require.
Accommodation is plentiful with a number of unit complexes in and around Caloundra, housing to rent (although is a tight market right now) and caravan parks on the doorstep. Once again the football club assists players with sourcing a place to stay with a player welfare officer in place to assist in this area.
Payment is possible for the right players and to be negotiated with day game awards presented as well for those who perform. Numerous players have gone on to higher honours with the most recent being Eric Hipwood who debuted at 16yrs of age and looks like he could now be anything at AFL level. The bottom line is this is a beautiful
part of the world and the reward can often be that you play on good grounds, generally good weather, good standard of footy (surprises many from the southern states) and the capacity to set your life up for ever in what the locals call "Gods Country". Experience it.
CAFC has played finals in junior, reserves and seniors the last few years and are determined to go all the way in 2019!REGISTER YOUR INTEREST
